The Gillette Mach 3 line of razors blades was first introduced in 1998. The original Gillette Mach 3 blade had a three blade design which according allowed a close shave with less pressure on the skin and with fewer strokes in an effort to reduce skin irritation. Since then, Gillette has developed newer variants of the original Mach 3 with up to 5 close blades. The different types of Mach 3 blades are as follows:
Original Mach 3 Blade
This is where it all started. 3 blades specially positioned to extend gradually closer to your facial hair, to shave you progressively closer in a single stroke. With fewer strokes, you will experience less irritation and get that close shave in less time. Patented DLC Comfort Edges to allow the Mach 3 to glide effortlessly and comfortably across your face.
Mach 3 Turbo Blade
Still a favorite of mine. Contains 3 blades like the original but adds an advanced anti-friction coating and soft protective Microfins to allow this razor blade to gently smooth down your skin so the Mach 3 Turbo can shave evenly and effortlessly. The enhanced indicator lubricating strip containing aloe and vitamin E changes color over time to let you know when it is time to replace the blade.
M3 Power Blade
The Gillette M3 Power Blade delivers the power of soothing micropulses and powerglide blades for a shave supremely close and comfortable. Containing the Mach 3 blade shaving technology (3 blades), the M3 adds powerglide technology to help the razor gently glide across your face for a smooth, soothing shave. The razor’s forward-pivoting head contains 10 microfins to embrace every curve of your face. The power of the subtle micropulses help provide one of the most comfortable shaves you will experience.
Fushion Blade
Combining Gillette’s advanced shaving technology with the sophisticated performance of 5 blades, the Gillette Fusion blade delivers an exceptionally close and comfortable shave. Also contains the same microfins as previous versions. Also available in a “power” version. My personal opinion is that while the 5 blades do provide a very comfortable shave since the blades are so close together, the blade head is a bit too large. Getting into those intricate areas where precision is needed is difficult to do with this blade. I do enjoy the newly added Precision Trimmer that’s located on the back of the blade. Getting perfectly clean lines on your sideburns or goatee is easy.
